Handout

This handout is designed to accompany the Supporting Neurodivergent Students (with a focus on PDA) for ANA/SNAs webinar.

It summarises the key principles of a Regulation-First approach, helping ANA/SNAs move from behaviour management toward nervous system safety in school environments.

The handout supports reflection and practical implementation by outlining:

  • Why regulation must come before learning

  • How pressure impacts capacity and autonomy

  • Recognising dysregulation in students and adults

  • The role of unconditional positive regard

  • Practical strategies to support regulation before, during and after crisis

It is intended to be used as a reflective and practical companion to the webinar content
